PRE CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
1 year before & until the day of procedure:
No Accutane, Tazorac, or any similar medication before your procedure.

1 month before & until the day of procedure:
No Glycolic acid, chemical peels, and/or laser treatments on the face.
No Retinol products or anti-aging creams (ex. Retin A).
No acne treatments or salicylic acid around the lip area.
If you have an iron deficiency, PLEASE take a supplement for 1 month before and also during the healing process. Some pigments/ink that I use are iron oxide based and your body will just metabolize it, causing you to have little to no healed results.

2 weeks before & until the day of procedure:
No botox and/or cosmetic fillers on or around the lip area.
No facials, threading, waxing, or tinting on or around the lip area.
No extensive sun exposure and/or sunburn on the face.

1 week before & until the day of procedure:
No blood thinners, including Aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Aleve, or Naproxen (Tylenol/Acetaminophen is OK)
No fish oils, DHA supplements, Turmeric, Vitamin E, or Niacin.
Keep lips hydrated with 8 glasses of water a day & with a lip balm.
If you have a history of cold sores, you are advised to go see your doctor to obtain the proper prescription medication (Valtrex). Please start taking your medication 5 days prior to your procedure and continue a few days after to help prevent or lessen the severity of an outbreak.

**If any of the above are taken for medical purposes, please consult with your physician first.
24-48 hours before & until the day of procedure:
No coffee, energy drinks or alcohol 24 hours prior.
For at least 2 nights prior to the procedure, exfoliate lips with a natural scrub (sugar and coconut oil) before bedtime.
Use Vaseline or Aquaphor after exfoliating your lips.
Any waxing should be performed at least 48 hours before the procedure.
Electrolysis no less than 5 days before the procedure.

**All of the above factors can cause bleeding. The more you bleed, the less that will allow the pigment to implant correctly into your skin AND it can effect the healing process.
Day of procedure:
You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
Please wash your hair beforehand – it will be hard to wash for 2-3 days afterwards.
Avoid intense workouts (light yoga & walking are OK)
No antibiotics and/or steroids.
Lips may be swollen or red; plan the remainder of your day accordingly.

AFTER CARE ADVICE
Change your pillowcase when you get home.
Please be advised that any pigment residue could stain your pillowcase for at least 1 week after your appointment.
Day of the procedure:
Lips will feel swollen, dark, and very dry after your treatment.
Pat lips gently with a wipe or tissue to remove excess lymph every hour or so on the first day.
You may also apply ice packs to help if they are swollen.

Day 2-3:
Apply a moisturizing lip ointment twice a day to moisten and prevent them from forming a crust.
Allow lips to dry for 5 minutes prior to applying your aftercare lip balm.
This should be done for at least 5-6 days post treatment.
Day 4 and onward:
Apply a moisturizing lip ointment at night to prevent scabs and dryness, continue to apply it for the entire week until the area is completely healed.
Always use a clean cotton swab to apply the ointment.
Once the lips are no longer tender, they may become flaky. This is normal.
Do not pick or scratch them!
Doing so can significantly reduce the amount of pigment that stays in the skin.
Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your 2nd/"perfecting" session, no sooner than 6-8 weeks but no longer than 12 weeks after the 1st session.
There are no implied or written guarantees of satisfactory results if you do not properly take care of your tattoo.
