Powder Brows

PRE CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

1 year before & until the day of procedure:

  • No Accutane, Tazorac, or any similar medication before your procedure.

1 month before & until the day of procedure:

  • No Glycolic acid, chemical peels, and/or laser treatments on the face.

  • No Retinol products or anti-aging creams (ex. Retin A).

  • No acne treatments or salicylic acid in the brow area.

  • If you have an iron deficiency, PLEASE take a supplement for 1 month before and also during the healing process. Some pigments/ink that I use are iron oxide based and your body will just metabolize it, causing you to have little to no healed results.

2 weeks before & until the day of procedure:

  • No botox and/or cosmetic fillers on or around the brow area.

  • No facials, threading, waxing, tinting, or deep exfoliation on/around the brow area.

  • No extensive sun exposure and/or sunburn on the face.

1 week before & until the day of procedure:

  • No blood thinners, including Aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Ibuprofen, Aleve, or Naproxen (Tylenol/Acetaminophen is OK)

  • No fish oils, DHA supplements, Turmeric, Vitamin E, or Niacin.

**If any of the above are taken for medical purposes, please consult with your physician first.

24-48 hours before & until the day of procedure:

  • No coffee, energy drinks or alcohol 24 hours prior.

  • Any waxing should be performed at least 48 hours before the procedure.

    • Electrolysis no less than 5 days before the procedure.

**All of the above factors can cause bleeding. The more you bleed, the less that will allow the pigment to implant correctly into your skin AND it can effect the healing process.

Day of procedure:

  • You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Please wash your hair beforehand – it will be hard to wash for 2-3 days afterwards.

  • Avoid intense workouts (light yoga & walking are OK)

  • No antibiotics and/or steroids.

  • Do NOT wear eyebrow makeup to your appointment!! I'll be wiping your face repeatedly & it will only make it harder to remove pigment from your skin.

  • You can wear your foundation so your skin will look great in the before & after photos. You can also bring it to retouch for the after photos as well.

  • Delicate skin and/or sensitive areas may be swollen or red, plan the remainder of your day accordingly.

AFTER CARE ADVICE:

Day of:

  • Immediately after your procedure, gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this until the oozing has stopped.

Days 1-7 (wash & moisturize):

  • Gently wash the area each morning & night with water and gentle soap or an unscented cleanser (ex: Cetaphil, Dove or Aveeno) with a very light touch. Use your fingertips to gently cleanse the area.

  • After each wash, it is very important to let the brows dry completely before you add your aftercare ointment.

  • To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue.

  • DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA) or exfoliants.

  • When dry, use a sterile cotton swab and GENTLY dab (DO NOT RUB) the ointment onto your brows using an amount equivalent to the size of half a grain of rice for each brow. (If you use the correct amount you will not see a glossy look on your brows).

Day 5-12 (peeling/flaking phase):

  • Once this process begins you can discontinue washing and keep moisturizing your brows. Do not pick! Just allow the scab or dry skin to come off on its own.

  • When your brows are no longer flaky (typically between day 10-14) this phase of healing is complete and you can resume regular activities.

  • You will still want to avoid all products on your brows that include active ingredients (acne or anti-aging products, salicylic acid, etc.) and protect your fresh brows from UV exposure.

  • DO NOT sleep on your face. Please try everything possible to refrain from rolling onto your face in your sleep.

ONCE EYEBROWS ARE HEALED:

  • Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and discoloration of the pigment.

  • Once completely healed, always apply sunscreen (50 SPF or greater) on the treated area.

  • You can always wear large sunglasses and a hat for further protection.

  • Rinse and dry the area thoroughly when in contact with chlorine.

  • Glycolic acid, microdermabrasion, chemical face peel products, and exfoliants must be kept away from the tattooed area. Continued use could lighten the pigment.

  • If you are having laser resurfacing or laser hair removal after your tattoo has healed, please inform the laser technician that you have PMU.

    • Laser procedures may darken, lighten, or discolor the tattooed area.

    • Continue at your own discretion.

  • Once the treated area is completely healed, any changes or additions that need to be made can be done at your 2nd/"the perfecting session", no sooner than 6-8 weeks but no longer than 12 weeks.

  • There are no implied or written guarantees for satisfactory results if you do not properly take care of your tattoo.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • Immediately following the days of your procedure, your brows will appear to be darker and bolder in color and more sharply defined.

  • The complete healing process takes about 6-8 weeks, at which time the true color of the tattoo is evident.

  • During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten.

  • Be PATIENT and wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color.
