FAQ's about PMU:

Does PMU look natural?

The goal at Noble Touch is to enhance your natural features in the most suitable way. I love the art of soft enhancement and services that make you feel and look your best! Regardless if you are looking for subtle changes or dramatic enhancements, catering to your needs is the ultimate goal!

Do I have color choices?

Absolutely! We will work together to pick the colors and undertones that are best suited for you! With PMU, the options are endless and we can create almost any color of your choice. As the professionals, we ensure to match you to the best shades while consulting you on your ultimate desired finish.

Will it fade?

During healing process, the color will fade, but will return once fully healed, looking softer and more natural. If any pigment (color) didn’t properly heal, this will be corrected and touched up at your 2nd session.

2 SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED to ensure full results. But your PMU will naturally be about 30% lighter than what you see at your initial appointment's finished result, due to the way your skin heals over top of the pigment.

Why do I need a 2nd session?

All clients need to return for a 2nd session 8-12 weeks after your initial appointment. This is to ensure healing was done properly and any adjustments to pigments and/or shape can be adjusted at this time. This session will lock in your results for years to come, with your annual touch up*

Does it hurt?

Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, so it varies from client to client. Most people experience no pain at all and some report a mild discomfort. A topical secondary anesthetic (numbing agent) is applied throughout the treatment to keep you as comfortable as possible. You are able to take Tylenol prior to your visit to reduce any pain you may encounter. *Blood thinners such as Ibuprofen, Advil, Aspirin, Aleve, Motrin or opioids are NOT permitted.

How long does it last?

This varies with each individual.

All PMU needs to be touched up between 6-24 months (this time span depends on your preferences, pre/aftercare, skin type and lifestyle).

The typical duration is between 2-3 years, but some lasts as long as 5 years!

This all depends on various factors that come into play (ex: sun exposure, medications, smoking, skin type, etc).

Proper aftercare of the treated area will help prolong the results!

How much does it cost?

Please see "Prices" section for each services initial and touch up prices.

Do you touch up other artists' work?

If you have an existing PMU from another artist you will need to have a consultation so I can see if the area can be worked on or if it needs saline removal services before starting fresh.

How long does will my appointment take?

The initial session can take up to 3-4 hours. (Mapping the perfect shape is crucial at this appointment). Then your 2nd session can take about 2-3 hours. Nonetheless, we don't want to rush the process, so please allow for the needed time.

Finally, your annual touch up will vary depending on how much work is required at that time.

What is the healing process?

Please see "Pre/After Care" section for each services healing phases.

Can I wear lipstick after Lip Blushing?

Absolutely! Once lip blush is fully healed, you can add color with lipstick, or simply wear a gloss or lip balm. Once your procedural areas are healed, there are no issues with applying anything over it.

Can you overline with Lip Blushing?

Overlining can be done with lip blushing, but to a very small amount. It is only recommended to overline slightly. This will prevent color migration from happening over time. Lip Blushing should only be done up to the lip line (vermillion border) to ensure an all around even healing.

Does PMU completely replace everyday makeup?

Not necessarily. But they work very well together!

PMU sits under the skin and has a soft quality, whereas everyday makeup sits on top of the skin and is more vibrant. You may feel like your brow tattoo is enough for you, or you may still fill them in everyday if you want more bold look. It is based off of preference for each individual and the look they desire.

Who shouldn't get PMU?

Please see the "Who should avoid PMU" section.

FAQ & What to expect: Text

What to expect at your appointment:

Step 1: Interviewing You

I'll interview you about your makeup routine and lifestyle. Do you draw your brows on everyday or only for special occasions? Do you like bold, statement brows/lips or soft, more subtle brows/lips?  With brows; many clients have over-plucked in the past, and want a return to their signature look. With lips; many clients have lost their natural pigment, have an asymmetrical shape, or they just don't want to apply their lipstick/gloss all the time. During the interview, I'll work with you to customize the best brow/lip shape for you!

Step 2: Measure & Draw the Perfect Brows/Lips for you

Once I determine your preference of brows/lips, I'll sketch your new shape directly onto your face. During this step, I'll ask you to smile, laugh, and make different facial expressions, to see the different muscle pulls in your face. I will occasionally stop, (if you're laying down, you'll be asked to sit up) to see how they look and make slight adjustments. I will be using specific eyebrow measurement instruments, to make sure they are even and also placed correctly for the shape of your face. I'll help find the perfect color and shape just for you. The goal is to create beautiful brows/lips that match the symmetry of your face!

Step 3: Numb the Procedure Area:

A lot of clients ask, "Does it hurt?" and after receiving PMU myself and feedback from other clients, the most popular answer is: nope!  Most clients do not complain about any pain, and some even fall asleep during the process! I will apply a pre-numbing cream for lips & lash line 20-30 minutes before starting; along with a secondary anesthetic, for all services, after I start tattooing to ensure you feel as little discomfort as possible. Most clients are pleasantly surprised by how relatively painless it is. You can sit back, relax, and dream about having PMU in the shower and while swimming... because it's all happening!

Step 4: Tattoo Time!
I will mix up the pigment(s) of choice and we will begin. Cosmetic tattooing works by using a tattoo ‘pen’; which I will use to create powdery brows/lips or solid line for lash line enhancement. I'll get to work with a whip shading technique. The process is repeated a few times to ensure evenness and saturation. Some areas are a little more sensitive than others, but overall very bearable and not nearly as painful as most people brace themselves for.

Step 5: Aftercare
I will briefly run through some aftercare with you and will share the aftercare phases. All the do's and don't's are on the website under the "Pre/Post Care" section. I will give you an aftercare pack containing a mini jar of ointment to use daily during the healing process. Don't forget to schedule your touch up appointment 8-12 weeks after the initial procedure, to retouch any areas where the pigment didn’t take during the healing phase and lock in your color and shape.
