Saline Removal

FAQ'S/AFTER CARE:

How many sessions do I need?

There isn’t a one answer fits all for saline removal. This is because each case is unique, so the number of sessions varies based on multiple factors, for example; how many sessions of prior work were done, how deep the pigment was implanted, what type of pigment was used, how many months or years has it been since your last treatment, and of course, how your skin reacts.

It's safe to plan on multiple treatments.

*Lightening unwanted pigment can be a long process and patience is required. This is true whether you are choosing a saline lightening product or laser. Please be patient and give the process time to do it's job.

Does it hurt?

Everyone has different levels of pain tolerance.  Typically most people only feel mild discomfort during the treatment due to exfoliators and lightening agents in the saline solution product. However, there is an anesthetic (numbing cream) applied before and during the procedure to keep discomfort to a minimum.

Is it supposed to bleed?

Yes! Some people bleed a little, some people bleed a lot and that’s okay! The more saline that is able to penetrate into the skin, the better the results!

How long do I have to wait for another session?

8 weeks minimum, your skin needs to heal.

AFTER CARE ADVICE FOR SALINE REMOVAL:

  • KEEP AREA CLEAN and open to the air. Do not cover with a Band-Aid or anything else, leave it open to air out. You should not be touching the area at all but if you find yourself needing to, PLEASE make sure your hands are exceptionally clean, to prevent infection.

  • TREAT WITH TLC & CLEAN BY BLOTTING the area 3-4x a day using a clean paper towel, tissue or gauze. NO ICE.

  • DO NOT SOAK the treated area in water. You can shower as normal but keep the area out of the shower spray the best you can and do not let the area stay wet for more than a few minutes.

  • NO SWIMMING, HOT TUBS, SAUNAS, TANNING, OR EXERCISING. NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • DO NOT disrupt the scabbing process (ex: no picking, scratching, etc.) All scabbing needs to fall off naturally. If you force or pick a scab off you will disrupt the process and possibly cause scarring.

  • ONCE ALL SCABBING HAS NATURALLY FALLEN OFF, apply one drop of Vitamin E Oil 3 to 4 times throughout the day for a minimum of 4 weeks, or until the next lightening session. DO NOT start applying the Vitamin E oil UNTIL all scabbing has naturally and completely fallen off.

  • It is important to the process and integrity of the skin that 8-10 weeks of healing take place before another lightening session can be done. No exceptions.
